Most people come to the Mentawais for ten days. This is for the ones who kept thinking about it on the flight home.

Understated, and built to disappear.
Each villa is designed in sustainable materials chosen to blend into the surrounding landscape while preserving as much of the jungle as possible — low roofs under the canopy line, deep shade, ocean on one side and garden on the other. Elegance here means nothing shouting for attention.

The constraint in the Mentawais has never been waves. It is boats, crowds and other people's schedules. Ki removes all three: dedicated boats and experienced local guides, so owners reach the best wave for the conditions that day — at first light, at the tide, or not at all.

On land
The Quiver Workshop.
Board storage, repairs and maintenance on site, alongside support for the community's watercraft. Boards live here between trips; dings are fixed overnight rather than carried home.
If it goes wrong.
Ki sits on the only island in the Mentawais with a hospital, and owners have telehealth access to Dr. Montee. It is a long way from anywhere — which is the appeal, and the reason this matters.

Recovery here is not an add-on for the people who don't surf. It is what makes a two-week trip a two-session-a-day trip — and it works just as well for partners and families who came for the island rather than the reef.

Ownership at Ki is a lot inside a community of only eight villas in a beachfront setting, held through your own Indonesian company, with resort-caliber services attached. There is no rental pool and no rooms sold around you — the site only ever holds eight households.

How ownership works
Held through your own Indonesian company.
Your Indonesian foreign-investment company holds Hak Guna Bangunan (HGB), giving the company registered rights to build on and use the land. Indonesian authorities specifically recognize PT PMAs as able to obtain HGB for qualifying investment activities.

And you don't have to run any of it.
None of this is left for you to work out. We form the company, register the land right and put the structure in place as part of the purchase, working with Indonesian counsel and notaries who have done it here before. Once it is running, we keep it in good standing — the annual filings, the reporting, the renewals — so what is asked of you is a signature where one is genuinely needed, and nothing else. Formation and the first year's compliance are included in the purchase, and everything beyond that is set out in full before you commit — there are no surprises afterwards.

Staged against the build, not against a calendar.
Each instalment falls when a piece of the community is finished and working — not on a date in a contract. You pay as the place comes into being around you, and the last five per cent is held back until your villa is handed over.

Surfers talk about what Bali used to look like.
Lombok — now 5.32 million people — is the answer most of them give. The Mentawais are the honest one: genuinely less crowded, still intact, and holding some of the most consistent reef waves on earth. That is a temporary condition everywhere it has ever existed, which is the argument for eight lots rather than eighty.
The Mentawai people
Ancient wisdom, modern resilience.
Mentawai culture sits in the rainforest of the islands' interior — intricate tattoo artistry, and rituals guided by sikerei, the community's healers. It is a way of living in close accord with the forest that has survived contact with almost everything since. Ki employs locally, builds locally, and takes the position that guests are the newest thing on the island by a very long way.
